Losing to vandy the 2022 23 season has certainly been a roller coaster it's hard as a fan to have perspective with your perception being altered with the outcome of every game so maybe it takes somebody with a coaching background to see through the fog of emotion to deliver a fair analysis so enter KSR's own brain and Ramsay who has at least some collegiate coaching experience
The that's a pretty high vol they try different lineups roster construction I don't think was great early in the season it was just a complete struggle that deliberate style that he was talking about was just half into manufacturer offense a little bit more yet I do think that we've seen it work because this is still a top 20 offensive grew biomass any metric in the country and while it it worked
Kentucky continued to lose games cow asked for more patience takes time when you have a new team I'm not I'm impatient to but it's team went from title contenders to completely out of the tournament a common theme for Kentucky since the 381 run at the beginning of the 2015 2016 season Kentucky was number one if Finished number 22 and 2016 there were ranked number one in November dropped the 15th and finish 9th
2017 started number 5 dropped out finished number 20/03/2018 start of the season number 2 dropped to 19th and finished number 7 20 19 and 20 were Cal did an excellent job coaching but that team still without I've got a 1 or 2 see things That lost to Evansville after being ranked number 1 20 20 started writing 10th fell out of the top 25 and into disaster going into January this Kentucky team the continue to lose games the focus remained on the offensive end but And it was quick to point out that that was not where the team struggled
The Vanderbilt fans and critics pointed out the 30 mid rain shots that Kentucky took shots do not exist in a vacuum it's not as simple as we want to shoot lay UPS and threes well of course you do but guess what the opponent wants to take away lay up some threes and then leads to a lot of mid range of shots is it is 30 it off a lot yeah it is probably too many that there's probably things that you could have done to avoid that they when you go 3 for 19.3 maybe we needed to be more deliberate at getting the ball inside and getting the ball to Oscar a little bit more
Is bottom hope good shot and coach Cal has done a good job recently of scheming him open there was this one play in the Vanderbilt game or they just like pop the ball around so it goes case and top of the key to Frederick Frederick inside the way or where right back at the wall it's I mean wide open inside of the backboard and the game of basketball is funny like Kentucky's best shooters can have wide open looks and miss them but a guy who hasn't had a 3 and his career hits 1 at the blizzard so if we're working for specifics rates like
And a staff has had a lot to deal with this season from injuries to their players getting in their own heads and yet Kentucky wolf January 14th when we'd be going to see from that point forward I think hes getting a deposit or an amount of sleep so I'll call Barry and there's staff obviously it's objectively a failure so with as many players who return with the Bahamas trip with the bulk of your out of conference schedule being exhibition level competition there was no reason Kentucky should have been experimenting late in December and all the way through Or too much just winning one of these games against Michigan state Gonzaga you still layer Kansas is not asking too much not losing to Georgia not losing the South Carolina in Vanderbilt at home The 2022 23 season has certainly been a rollercoaster it's hard as a fan to have perspective with your perception being altered with the outcome of every game so maybe it takes somebody with a coaching background to see through the fog of emotion to deliver a fair analysis so entered KSR's own Brandon Ramsay hoop
Who has at least some collegiate coaching experience through some of the toughest losses this season while national media blasted cow and his archaic offense Brandon has maintained firmed understands that Kentucky's hall of fame coach knows what he is doing
For the most part fork Kentucky is more of a story of efficiency that it is that raw number and Brandon has the numbers the backup is argumentIt's wrong number is it what modern basketball does surly always talks about butIt's about what when you're scoring
I mean the calipary in the staff are free from criticism coach Cal is always going to try to figure out what's best for the 5 guys on the board head that leads to some trial at an end that needs to some trial at an end
Struggled this year as the coaching staff tried to figure out the best way for this team to win games they tried shooting a bunch of threes it's hard to shoot 25 threes a game when you're pretty much reliable 3
